Ashville Area Heritage Historic Playing Cards

A special THANK YOU to Charles Morrison with his help in getting the pictures, and Art Deal, who has seen this project through.  Without the experience of these two people, these playing cards and the funds it has (and still is) bringing into the museum might still be in the planning stage.  As it is, we've managed to get all of the sponsors and had the cards completed and available for the 4th of July festival which helped us sell a lot of decks.  We still have cards available for sale and they make great "Stocking Stuffers".

We took on a challenging new fundraising project of gathering various pictures of historic Ashville, Ohio, scanning them, and have produced playing cards with the images.  Working together with Jim Esteph of Real Souvenir Playing Cards, we have produced our "First" collectable deck of playing cards, of which, only 1000 decks will ever be produced.

Each card has a tid-bit of history on them as well as the "SPONSORS" for EACH card.  These generous sponsors have donated money to the museum in the amounts of $50, $75, $100, and $200 depending on the type of card sponsored.  It is through their sponsorship that has made it possible to complete this project and because of their generosity, we will make up to $7,900.00, all of which will go towards supporting the various programs and maintenance of the Ashville Area Heritage Society.  We are selling the decks of cards for $8.50 each (includes tax) at the museum and possibly various other places in Ashville.  Our HEART-FELT THANKS goes out to all the sponsors whose names can be seen on the cards.  "Thank you for your support"!!!

To order the cards call:  983-9864 (museum) during normal hours

Photograph and News Article Logging
Dorothy Cormany and Charles Morrison have been delving into boxes and boxes of old photos and news articles that have been given to the museum.  As the photos and articles are identified and categorized by Dorothy and Charles they are finding a home in our library in the form of notebooks.  It is a real treat to sit and go through the books to see the past.
